The annual RBC Race for the Kids Ottawa made an in-person comeback this weekend, raising $475,000 for youth mental health programs and services at CHEO.

“It's critical that young people get access to the help they need,” said Marjolaine Hudon, race chair and regional president of personal and commercial banking at RBC. “Seeing so many colleagues, families, sports teams and friends come together in person was truly inspiring.”

Thousands of people took part in the event, held at Wesley Clover Parks on Sunday, Sept. 25, which featured three courses — 10K and 5K all-terrain routes, as well as an accessible 2K Family Fun Run.

“Thank you to our generous community for coming together and showing your support for youth struggling with mental health challenges,” said Steve Read, the acting president and CEO of the CHEO Foundation. “Funds raised through RBC Race for the Kids helps ensure that children, youth and their families can access care when they need it the most.”

Since the launch of the Ottawa event in 2017, more than $2.7-million has been raised, and worldwide, over $74-million has been raised through the RBC global race series since 2008.
