Former Rick Chiarelli staffer goes public; says she gave testimony to integrity commissioner

By Dani-Elle Dubé

A woman who worked for city councillor Rick Chiarelli has identified herself as one of the women staffers who have come forward accusing the College ward councillor of misconduct.

Nancy O’Brien, who worked for Chiarelli “on and off” between 2009 and 2017 posted a statement on her website Thursday, saying she was one of the women who provided testimony to the integrity commissioner.

“I've provided sworn testimony and evidence to the Integrity Commissioner investigation detailing my experiences working for Councillor Rick Chiarelli. “I am not looking backwards. I have given enough of my time and energy to Rick Chiarelli already. I choose to go forward. I want change. I don’t want something like what happened to me, to happen to any other woman, ever. That’s where I am choosing to engage my efforts, I believe it’s far more constructive and healing.”

O'Brien has also gone on Facebook and Tik Tok, addressing her statement further.

The councillor was accused last year of sexualizing three young women who met with him to interview for jobs in his office.

Chiarelli has denied all allegations against him.
