What’s open and closed in Ottawa on the August civic long weekend

The long weekend has kicked off, which means some places in Ottawa will be closed or working on reduced schedules.
Here’s what’s open and closed on Monday — Colonel By Day.
Oc Transpo
- Buses will run on a Sunday schedule on Monday.
- O-Train Line 1 will operating on a reduced weekday schedule.
- O-Train Line 2 bus service will operate on a Sunday schedule.
- Para Transpo will run on a holiday service on Monday.
City of Ottawa recreation services
- Beaches, wading pools and splash pads are open, as long as weather permits
- Some weight and cardio rooms will be open. Check the city website for further details.
- Some indoor and outdoor pools will be open for public swimming, with tweaked schedules.
- Some registered programs are cancelled — some exception apply.
City services
- Client Services at city hall and Ben Franklin Place and the city’s provincial offences court at 100 Constellation Dr. is closed on Monday.
- 311 contact centre open for urgent matters only.
- Public Library branches are closed.
- Municipal Childcare centre are closed.
Green bin, recycling and garbage
- No curbside collection of green bins, recycling or garbage on Monday. Instead, collection will happened on Tuesday and be delayed by one day all week.
- The Trail Waste Facility is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday.
COVID-19 testing
- CHEO assessment centre and Kids Come First care clinic at Brewer Park is open from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Same for adult testing.
- COVID-19 drive-thru assessment centre on Coventry Road is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- AMA Community Centre pop-up clinic at 1216 Hunt Club Rd.: 12:15 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Shopping (on Monday)
- Rideau Centre: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Bayshore: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- St. Laurent: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Tanger Outlets: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Billings Bridge: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Place d’Orleans: 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Carlingwood: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- The ByWard Market is open.
- All Loblaws, Food Basics and Metros will be open, however, hours may differ based on location.
- Shoppers Drug Mart locations are open.
Museums
- The Canadians Museum of Nature: Open all weekend, and Monday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- The Canada Science and Technology Museum: open all weekend, and Monday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- The Canadian Museum of History: open all weekend but closed on Monday.
- The Canadian War Museum: open all weekend but closed on Monday.
- The Canada Aviation and Space Museum: open all weekend, and Monday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- The National Gallery of Canada: open all weekend and Monday
- The Canada Agriculture and Food Museum: open all weekend, and Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- The Diefenbunker open on the weekend, but closed on Monday.
- The Barbara Ann Scott Gallery, City Hall Art Gallery, Karsh-Masson Gallery open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday. The Ottawa Sports Hall of Fame at City Hall is closed.
LCBO, Beer Stores
- Some LCBO outlets will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Visit their website for details on individual locations.
- The Beer Store locations open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday:

All overtime parking will not be enforced on residential streets. However, other parking restrictions will remain in place.
