Ottawa under rainfall warning

By Alex Black

A rainfall warning has been issued for Ottawa and surrounding areas.

Environment Canada says rain showers that began during the evening hours of Wednesday, April 6, will continue throughout the day Thursday before finally tapering off Friday morning.

We can expect 20 to 30 mm of rain by the time the weather clears.

Also, because the frozen ground is already saturated and has a reduced ability to absorb the precipitation, the weather agency says localized flooding is possible in low-lying areas.

The rainfall warning is in effect for areas including:

  • Ottawa
  • Metcalfe
  • Richmond
  • Kemptville
  • Smiths Falls
  • Perth
  • Lanark County
  • Sharbot Lake
