Man rescued after falling down trench near Chateau Laurier

Ottawa fire crews rescued a man on Tuesday, August 2, after he fell down a trench that was approximately 10 feet deep. 

The Rope Rescue team was on scene around 6 a.m. at Rideau Street and Mackenzie Avenue, for someone who had fallen into a pit near the Chateau Laurier.

After about 20 minutes, the individual was brought safely out of the trench.

The Ottawa paramedics confirmed to CityNews that patient care was provided to a male on scene, but was not transported to hospital.
