Environment Canada issues thunderstorm warning for Ottawa

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Ottawa and surrounding areas for Saturday, July 23. 

The warning was issued just after 4 p.m.

“Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing very strong wind gusts and nickel to ping pong ball size hail,” Environment Canada said in a statement. “Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.”

Locations impacted include Constance Bay, Dunrobin, Malwood, Heyworth, Hollow Glen, Kilmaurs, Woodlawn, Greenlands, Baskin's Beach, Dunrobin Shore and Berrys. 

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for Cornwall-Morrisburg, Prescott and Russell and Smiths Falls – Lanark and Sharbot Lake.
