Riley Brockington, the city councillor for River Ward, confirmed on Twitter on Sept. 12 that the City of Ottawa is hiring a private contractor to track coyote movements and bring forth a solution.
The City of Ottawa has confirmed to me a private contractor will be hired to track local coyote movement and behaviour in the vicinity of the Hydro One corridor and recommend appropriate next steps to take.@RiversideParkCR @HuntClubCA

Over the weekend, a coyote killed a dog in front of horrified onlookers at Riverside Park. According to Coun. Brockington, coyote sightings have been reported in the yard of École Georges Étienne Cartier and at Pauline Vanier Park.
I am aware of the disturbing coyote attack in Riverside Park this weekend, that included killing a dog in the immediate vicinity of humans.
I have contacted the City Manager, GM of Emergency Services & Chief of Ottawa Bylaw for assistance.

Brockington, told The Rob Snow Show on Aug. 24 that coyote sightings in the area are nothing new, but over the few weeks, his office has received multiple inquiries and complaints from residents on a daily basis.
“River ward's geographic location is home to coyotes and has been home to coyotes for many, many years,” he added. “It's not abnormal for residents to come across coyotes. We've got the Rideau River and woods and the Experimental Farm and if you put that all together, it's a great habitat.”
