The capital is in for yet another wallop of winter weather.
On Wednesday, Feb. 22, Environment Canada issued a snowfall warning for Ottawa and the Valley, with estimated snow totals of about 20 centimetres (cm).
The weather agency said the heavy snowfall will start Wednesday night and into Thursday. CityNews Weather Specialist Denise Andreachhi said Wednesday evening could also bring hazardous conditions.
“The snow will be heavy at times,” said Andreachhi. “It is going to move in Wednesday evening but really overnight and through Thursday is when we see the most accumulation, we're looking at 15 to 20 cm.”
There is a chance the snow could be mixed with ice pellets in the Smiths Falls area Thursday afternoon, she adds.
Localized blowing snow is also possible, meaning that visibility could be poor on the roads. Environment Canada advises drivers to adjust their driving according to the changing road conditions.
The weather agency added, another round of snow is expected on Thursday and could become mixed with freezing drizzle or ice pellets.
Most of Southern Ontario is under weather warnings, with winter storm conditions expected.
