Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for Ottawa.
The weather agency said heavy rain is expected on Monday, Aug 7 and Tuesday, Aug. 8. Environment Canada said Ottawa is expected to receive rainfall amounts of 50 millimetres (mm) to 75 mm.
“Scattered showers will become heavy at times this morning,” said Environment Canada in its statement. “Showers are expected to diminish this afternoon before another round of heavy rain, likely with thunderstorms, arrives late this afternoon or this evening.”
Rainfall rates of 30 mm an hour are expected, particularly on Monday evening.
“Moderate showers are then expected to ease Tuesday morning or afternoon,” said Environment Canada. “Total rainfall amounts of 50 to 75 mm are expected, however, higher amounts can not be ruled out.”
