OFS responds to reports of smoke coming from West Block of Parliament Hill

Ottawa Fire Services was on the scene at Parliament Hill's West Block after receiving reports of smoke coming from the building.

No injuries have been reported as Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) were on the scene at Parliament Hill’s West Block after receiving reports of smoke coming from its second and third floors.

OFS responded to a call from the Parliamentary Protective Service about smoke visible inside the building just before 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 12.

Firefighters arrived on scene in four minutes and determined the smoke was coming from an HVAC unit on the roof of West Block.

Crews were able to isolate the HVAC unit and ventilated smoke from the impacted floors of the building.
