Two people pulled to safety after vehicle crashes into Rideau River

There are no injuries after a vehicle plunged into the Rideau River.

Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) responded to a call from the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) around 7:10 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 7.

Initial information indicated a vehicle had left the roadway on Riverside Drive, near Bank Street and Data Centre Road, ending up in the water.

The first crew on scene quickly confirmed both occupants had made it out of the vehicle and the pair was helped to safety by firefighters.

Water rescue and hazmat units also responded to the scene to devise a plan to safely remove the vehicle from the river.
