Ottawa Police looking to ID suspect in jewel store robbery

Police are asking the public for help identifying a suspect involved in a commercial robbery on March 13.

Ottawa Police Service (OPS) say that at around 6:40 p.m. a suspect went into a jewelry store on Rideau Street, took an item and attempted to leave with it. When staff confronted the suspect, police say he threatened them and fled the store.

Officers say that nobody was injured.

Police describe the suspect as an Indigenous male, 30-40 years of age, around five-foot-ten, slim build and long black hair. They say he wore a light gray Champion hoodie with logos all around, blue jeans, and a black and gray backpack during the robbery.

OPS asks anyone with information on his identity, or information about the robbery, to call the Robbery Unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 5116 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
