Baseline Road bank robber flees with cash; Ottawa police search for suspect

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) robbery unit is asking the public for assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a bank robbery that took place on Jan. 10 in the 700 block of Baseline Road.

According to OPS, the suspect entered the bank around 2:05 p.m., raised a black handgun and demanded cash.

The male suspect proceeded by going behind the teller stations — and left the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, wrote OPS in a news release.

No injuries related to this incident have been reported, noted OPS.

Ottawa police describe the suspect as male, approximately 5’10” (178 cm), with an average build.

Witnesses reported the suspect wearing an olive-coloured winter coat with black sleeves, dark pants, black shoes, a balaclava, ski goggles and carrying a black duffle bag.
