Ottawa firefighters were called yet again for an early morning fire, this time in the Elmvale Acres community.
This marks the ninth fire in less than a week for crews who also tackled an involved Orléans blaze early yesterday morning.
Today’s 911 calls came at around 3:05 a.m. with people reporting flames coming from a balcony of an apartment building in the 1900 block of St-Laurent Boulevard. People said that “debris” was falling from the balcony.
Firefighters on scene confirmed smoke and flames coming from the south side of the building on the 10th floor. Making their way up, crews were met with smoke in the hallway.
Hooking their hose up to an attachment within the building, firefighters were able to douse the flames coming from the apartment quickly before it spread.
It was declared under control eight minutes after crews arrived.
Firefighters found no one inside the apartment and used fans to ventilate the area including the hallways.
Three adults and three children will be displaced due to the fire.
