Ottawa police officers are looking for the public’s help to identify a suspect they believe is involved in an incident on an OC Transpo bus.
Officials said in a press release that a sexual assault took place on June 9 aboard a crowded Route 15 bus heading to Blair Station. It happened around 4:25 p.m. According to police, a man sexually assaulted a female victim who was standing close to him.
The suspect is described as a heavy-set white man, about 40 to 50 years old with a salt-and-pepper beard. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a New York Yankees ballcap, headphones, a Pittsburgh Steelers jacket, a black shirt and plaid pants.
Police are hoping someone in the public can help identify him. They are asking anyone with information to contact the Central Criminal Investigations Section at 613-236-1222, extension 5166, or by email at centralciu@ottawapolice.ca.
In the press release, OC Transpo said it is “dedicated to providing a safe, reliable, and courteous transit experience for everyone.”
Stations and vehicles are patrolled by the agency’s special constables, who are sworn peace officers.
They “play an important role in preserving the peace, preventing and investigating crime on transit,” the statement reads.
