Learner drivers and parents kept Ottawa police busy with multiple stunt driving incidents

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) have recently nabbed multiple people for stunt driving across the region.

In multiple posts to X, police outlined four incidents of stunt driving.

In what police call a “so we meet again moment” this weekend near the Ottawa airport, police stopped a driver travelling nearly 60 km/h over the limit.

In this event, the driver was stopped and charged with stunt driving for the second time in five years. OPS say it was even the same officer who caught the speeder.

On Sunday, a pickup truck driver was clocked going 145 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on Highway 174 near Orleans. The driver had their spouse and three children in the truck at the time.

The vehicle was impounded and the driver had their license suspended and was charged with stunt driving.

In the same area as the pickup, an 18-year old G2 driver was stopped going double the speed limit in a 60 km/h zone on St. Joseph Boulevard. They were driving at 122 km/h on that street.

A 27-year old driver of their mother’s SUV was charged with stunt driving as they were seen passing multiple vehicles while driving 134 km/h on a 80 km/h section of Limebank Road. The vehicle was also impounded.

In addition to the above four incidents, an Ottawa driver is facing many charges after Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) pulled over a suspected impaired driver on Sunday while patrolling Highway 417 in Ottawa.

There were also 10 passengers in the car which only has eight seats. Of the 10 passengers, two were children not legally secured.

The suspected impaired G2 driver now faces a slew of charges.
