Construction at an intersection in Ottawa’s west end will impact commuters and several bus routes until the end of November.
In a release by the City of Ottawa, it notes that Baseline and Greenbank roads in the Queensway Terrace South community is undergoing overhead utility work along with several other improvements. The reconstruction is expected to last until late November.
Traffic will be impacted Baseline Road from Cornell Street to McWatters Road and Greenbank Road, between Lisa Avenue and Monterey Drive. This area will have lane reductions in both directions.
“Traffic delays throughout the construction zone are expected,” the release notes.” Signage will be in place to notify residents of the impacted area, and temporary traffic calming measures have been installed on some adjacent local streets.”
By the end of the construction the area will have replaced storm sewer catch basins, dedicated bus priority lanes, new concrete sidewalks, raised cycle tracks and new reconfigured lanes.
Several OC Transpo stops are being shifted during this time to accommodate the work. Bus routes 68, 82, 88, 646, 688 and 691 are likely to be delayed during this time.
Sidewalks through the intersection will also be closed, meaning pedestrians should follow route signage as well as cyclists.
