Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a serious collision that sent two paramedics to hospital in the Town of Madoc, north of Belleville.
Officers from the Central Hastings detachment were called for a two-vehicle crash on Feb. 2 around 3:00 p.m. Emergency responders arrived to find that one of the vehicles was an ambulance and the other a transport truck.
The incident happened at the intersection of Highway 7 and Highway 62 in Madoc.
Two paramedics were sent to hospital, but one of them was later airlifted to a trauma centre by Ornge due to the life-threatening injuries. The second paramedic is still being treated with undetermined injuries, police said on Tuesday.
The two people in the transport truck were taken to hospital as a precaution, officials detailed in the press release.
On Feb. 3 the intersection in this portion of the town is closed due to repairs to the traffic lights.
