Man holding ‘large knife’ wanted in Richmond robbery

Ottawa police are investigating a bank robbery after a suspect used a weapon to intimidate staff before running off with money.

The incident happened March 5 at around 1:50 p.m. A person entered a bank at the intersection of Perth Street and Shea Road in Richmond. A TD Bank is in the area and fits the description. According to staff, a man entered the institution with a large knife and demanded money. Staff complied, and he left the area.

Police believe he was driving a white Volkswagen Golf GTI, believed to be a 2022 model or newer. There was no front licence plate on it.

The man is described as white with a thin build. At the time, he was wearing a black hoodie, a grey balaclava, blue jeans, black shoes with white soles and a dark-coloured backpack.

Officials are asking anyone in the area between 1:30 and 2:00 p.m. to check dashcam footage.
