Québec man facing multiple charges for road rage incident on Hwy. 417

Provincial police were called to a major highway in Ottawa after a person attempted to slash a vehicle’s tires with a screwdriver and was seen driving the wrong way.
According to officials, the incident of road rage unfolded on Highway 417 near Hunt Club Road around 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
A man from Québec was passed on the right by another driver, which resulted in the accused driver trying to slash the tires of the other vehicle with a screwdriver. The man also attempted to break the glass on the victim’s car, police detailed.
At some point, the same suspect was seen driving the wrong way down the Hunt Club ramp.
As a result, the 61-year-old man from Québec is facing charges of:
- Dangerous operation
- Assault with a weapon
- Mischief
- Drive wrong way- one way traffic
- Obstruct Plate
He is expected in an Ottawa court at a later date.
“OPP reminds drivers that with construction season just starting in the city, motorists can expect delays similar to the summer of 2025,” police said in the release.
It’s not the only instance of road rage provincial police dealt with over the long weekend.
In Quinte West, on Highway 401, a vehicle ended up in the ditch and rolled over, leaving the driver with some injuries.
Police said that there were reports of an “aggressive driver cutting vehicles off in traffic.” The driver left the scene but was found in Northumberland County.
The 36-year-old from Québec was charged with dangerous driving.
“Aggressive driving can have serious consequences. Slow down, stay patient, and put safety first,” officials said.
