Scattered thunderstorms bring on and off rain to Ottawa

More rain is expected in the nation’s capital from thunderstorms on Wednesday afternoon and into the evening.

Environment Canada notes that thunderstorms have developed and are persisting throughout the day.

“When thunder roars, go indoors! Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Secure loose objects,” the forecast reads.

Heavy rain is possible, along with hail and strong winds with gusts up to 90 km/h.

Temperatures are hovering around 25 C, feeling more like 30 with the humidity. It’s expected to drop to a low of 14 C overnight.

Storm risk continues into Thursday, before things settle heading into the sunny weekend, the forecast shows.
