Ottawa Hospital gets new MRI

The Ottawa Hospital is getting a new MRI machine at its General campus that will be able to perform 3120 scans a year.

Premier Dalton McGuinty made the announcement today and says the new machine will mean faster diagnosis and earlier treatment. He says this and other investments have helped reduce MRI wait times at the Ottawa Hospital by 62 percent since 2005.

Alex Munter, CEO of the Champlain Local Health Integration Network says this site was chosen to hold the new machine because of the large number of cases the hospital deals with as well as its efficient track record.

He says this new machine will mean even better efficiencies for the Ottawa area.
