Dangerous offender designation sought for abuser

The crown wants a man with a long history of abusing his girlfriends to be designated a dangerous offender.
48 year old John Cox was found guilty in April of aggravated assault and weapons offences after beating his then girlfriend. It was the fourth time he was convicted of assaulting a domestic partner.
According to The Citizen, he has a seven page criminal record dating back to 1984 with other convictions for assault and robbery.
If he is declared a dangerous offender, he could be jailed indefinitely.
