Fire crews rescue man from Ottawa River

OTTAWA – Ottawa Fire’s water unit rescued a man in his early twenties from the Ottawa River near Lemieux Island on Sunday evening.
Ottawa Police told 1310News that three men were spotted drawing graffiti on the Prince of Wales bridge.
When OC Transpo Special Constables confronted the men, one of them jumped in the river to escape.
The Ottawa Fire water rescue unit responded to a call for assistance and retrieved the man from the water.
The patient was exposed to cold water for up to fifteen minutes and was treated for hypothermia by paramedics.
He was sent to hospital as a precaution.
