Four cyclists hit by vehicles within an hour

A dangerous morning for cyclists in the capital, Tuesday, as four people on bicycles were hit by vehicles in three separate incidents.

The collisions happened in three different areas, but all within one hour during the morning rush.

The first car-bicycle collision was on Baseline near Farlane, just before 7 a.m.  A 42-year-old man was rushed to hospital, where he is in stable condition.

A second incident saw a cyclist hit on Prince of Wales, south of Hunt Club.  The 30-year-old man suffered a head injury, and briefly lost consciousness.  He is in hospital in serious but stable condition.

A short time later, a third cyclist was struck on Hunt Club, near Bank.  The 25-year-old man on the bike called 911 himself.  He has minor abrasions to his knee, arms and shoulder.

The fourth collision was in the west end, on Woodroffe.

Ottawa Police will investigate, but there’s no word of any charges.
