Ottawa launching new COVID-19 vaccination clinic at EY Centre, opening 10K new appointments

By CityNews Ottawa

Ottawa Public Health (OPH) is announcing a new COVID-19 vaccination clinic at the EY Centre as part of its move to bolster vaccination efforts in the face of the new Omicron variant.

The health unit says 10,000 new appointments have also opened between that new clinic and the Nepean Sportsplex.

About 750,000 Ottawa residents become eligible for their third dose of a COVID-19 vaccine on Monday, December 20, when eligibility expands to 18+ and Dr. Vera Etches says the city is ready.

The City of Ottawa reactivated its Emergency Operation Centre earlier this week, and OPH is temporarily reducing many programs to focus primarily on COVID-19 and vaccinating residents.

While more vaccines are going into arms, Dr. Etches says residents must continue to do what they can to limit the spread of COVID-19. That includes wearing masks, washing hands, limiting close contacts and practicing physical distancing.
