Ottawa Hospital able to close Civic Campus vaccine clinic, add staff to community locations

The Ottawa Hospital says the majority of its staff members and high-risk patients are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, so it's closing its vaccine clinic at its Civic Campus, and redeploying staff to other clinics in the city.

The hospital is supporting Ottawa Public Health and the City of Ottawa in opening two new COVID-19 vaccine clinics; one at the Horticulture building at Lansdowne Park, and the other at the Nepean Sportsplex Curling Club.

“This marks an important shift in the community response to the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Cameron Love, President and CEO, The Ottawa Hospital. “Staff at The Ottawa Hospital have proudly supported our community throughout the pandemic by caring for COVID-19 patients in hospital, long-term care facilities and at home, operating COVID-19 testing centres, and running the hospital’s COVID-19 vaccine clinic. This shift represents an important step forward in our vaccine rollout, as we continue to make progress and protect our community.”

Members of the public can book vaccine appointments at the city's clinics through the provincial booking system.

The Ottawa Hospital COVID-19 vaccine clinic has since delivered over 105,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine to health-care workers and high-risk patients since administering one of the first shots in Canada on December 15, 2020.

Staff at The Ottawa Hospital who have not yet been vaccinated can still receive their COVID-19 vaccine through the hospital.
