Parkways are closed to motor vehicles every Sunday from mid-May to Labour Day weekend!

The National Capital Commission presents NOKIA Sunday Bikedays in Canada’s Capital Region. Enjoy over 50 kilometers of scenic parkways in Ottawa and Gatineau closed to motorized traffic and reserved for cyclists, in-line skaters, runners and walkers.

 

Parkways Reserved for NOKIA Sunday Bikedays

In Ottawa

9 am to 1 pm

  • Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway (9 kilometres)
    The westbound lanes of the Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway, located on the south side of the Ottawa River just west of the downtown core, from Vimy Place (Canadian War Museum) to Carling Avenue.
  • Colonel By Drive (8 kilometres)
    Both lanes of Colonel By Drive, located on the east side of the Rideau Canal, from the Laurier Bridge to the Hog’s Back Bridge.
  • Sir George-Étienne Cartier Parkway (8 kilometres)
    Both lanes of the Sir George-Étienne Cartier Parkway, running along the south side of the Ottawa River, just east of the downtown core, from the Aviation Parkway to St. Joseph Boulevard in Orléans.

NOKIA Sunday Bikedays is cancelled on Colonel By Drive, Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway and Sir George-Étienne Cartier Parkway on Sunday, May 29, for the Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend.

In Gatineau Park

6 am to 11 am — 27 kilometres for cyclists who enjoy steep hills!

  • Gatineau Parkway
  • Champlain Parkway
  • Fortune Lake Parkway

6 am to 1 pm — 3.5 kilometres north of Chemin du Lac-Meech Lake Road (parking lot P8). This section is ideal for families with young children.
