Algonquin College is offering a second round of free virtual courses and a 25 per cent discount on its paid courses, which will also be delivered virtually.

The Algonquin College Corporate Training (ACCT) has also added several new short courses, the college announced Friday.

“As a part of Ontario’s community college system, we are dedicated to helping our communities survive and thrive in both good times and in difficult moments such as these,” said Doug Wotherspoon, executive director of business development at Algonquin College. “We are proud to be able to expand our offerings in support of the businesses and people of Ontario who are looking to sharpen their skills at work or strengthen their resume for their next opportunity.”

The courses are instructor-led and are a way fr the college to help give back to the community during COVID-19, the college says.

It was announced by the ACCT on March 26 that several of its newly developed two, three and four-day courses would be offered for free with fees for select books and teams still applied.

The college said it was doing this to help develop and local workforce during the pandemic.

Since then, 1,500 people have completed a free course.

The second round of courses includes 23 options and covers a range of topics like business analysis, customer service, leadership, writing and communication, negotiation and specific software such and Microsoft Teams.

Registration is limited to one course per person, and the 1,150 spaces are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
