Annual RBC Race for Kids helps raise funds for CHEO’s mental health services

More than 2,260 participants came out to Wesley Clover Parks to help raise funds for mental health services the CHEO hospital. Donations raised through RBC’s Race for Kids, an annual event that supports various issues affecting children.

According to the hospital, over the last five years, it has seen more and more children and youth struggling with their mental health. The demand for services like emergency, inpatient, outpatient and community care is increasing and stretching CHEO’s mental health system. Funds raisedwill help CHEO provide better services and support to patients and their families.

“Today, thousands showed how much they care about young people struggling with their mental health in our community. Funds raised through the third annual RBC Race for the Kids Ottawa will help youth and their families get the help they need,” says Marjolaine Hudon, the regional president for Ontario North and East at RBC, adding that, “On behalf of RBC, thanks to everyone who came out, with family, friends and colleagues, to support CHEO youth mental health programs. This is part of how together, we invest in youth to prepare them for the future.”

During the race, participants ran and walked through all-terrain and accessible courses of 2, 2.75, 5 and 10-kilometres with family, strollers and even dogs.
