An elementary school in Ottawa's Heron Gate neighbourhood is closed due to a COVID-19 outbreak.
École élémentaire catholique Marius-Barbeau was shut down Thursday, September 30, by Ottawa Public Health (OPH) after the school reported that the virus had spread through multiple cohorts.
Out of an abundance of caution, Ottawa Public Health has closed École élémentaire catholique Marius-Barbeau in River Ward today, for at least 10 days, due to a COVID outbreak.
OPH will continue to work with the school to monitor and to ensure all appropriate measures are in place— Riley Brockington (he/him) (@RiverWardRiley) October 1, 2021
OPH has not said how many cases of COVID-19 have been reported at the school.
It's unclear how long the school will be closed but OPH says it could be up to 10 days.
This closure comes nearly two days after a COVID-19 outbreak was confirmed at St. Benedict Elementary in Barrhaven on Tuesday, September 27.
That school remains closed.
