Barrhaven Your Independent Grocer offering one-hour exclusive access for seniors

A Your Independent Grocer store in Barrhaven wants to make it easier for seniors to get the food and supplies they need during the COVID-19 pandemic, without having to contending with massive crowds.
Starting Tuesday, March 17, Ross' Your Independent Grocer on Strandherd Drive at Greenbank Road will be open at 7 a.m. for seniors, 65 years and older.
The store's owner Kelly Ross said on Facebook, “We do not encourage seniors to get out of the house [during the pandemic], but due to demand we will offer the service. 7 a.m. – 8 a.m., 65 + ONLY.”
Ross is asking all customers to respect the request, and to shop during appropriate time frames, from 8 a.m. – 11 p.m., for regular business.
“We thank ALL our customers for the patience and respect during this busy time,” said Ross. “Our staff are truly working around the clock to make sure things are available and proper.”
The store also offers online shopping as an alternate option.
Added, March 17: Local Shoppers Drug Marts are also offering a similar service.
