With restrictions now easing across most of Ontario, Brockville Tourism is urging people elsewhere in the province, Quebec and in the United States, to avoid coming into the region, to help further limit the spread of COVID-19 within the area.
According to Katherine Hobbs, of Brockville Tourism, the area has become attractive to people wanting to get out of the house, but it's ultimately lead to threatening the progress Brockville has made to fight the virus and keeping small businesses open.
She adds, additional closures or restrictions are very tough on small business owners in Brockville.
“It's been very frustrating for small businesses,” Hobbs explains. “They can't help to cope or compete against some of the bigger box stores.”
Hobbs also feels last year and the start of 2021 have been especially hard on owners, and adds this could also be the situation for the remainder of the year.
