Smiths Falls town council is set to meet for the first time this year.

Before Monday night's council session, the Special Committee of the Whole will consider the town's third draft of the 2021 budget.

One of the items on Monday's agenda is an interim tax levy.

The proposal being considered is from Town Councillor Chris McGuire, which is looking to impose an interim tax on all properties.

Council is also set to discuss funding for a number of community groups like Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lanark County ($25,000), The Railway Museum of Eastern Ontario ($20,000), The Trinity United Church ($31,020), Furry Tale Cat Rescue ($4,999) and the Rideau Environmental Action League ($9,500).

The meeting is set to start at 6 p.m. Monday.
