Canada’s Drag Race winner Icesis Couture named Grand Marshall of Capital Pride

By CityNews Ottawa

The first time Icesis Couture performed completely changed the direction of the drag queen's life. Couture was 20 years old and went out onto the stage of a former nightclub on Sparks Street to do a solo number.

“It was such an empowering moment,” Icesis told The Sam Laprade Show on Friday, Aug 26.

Couture has been doing drag for 15 years now and was not only crowned Miss Capital Pride in 2020 but won Canada’s Drag Race.

The Ottawa native said competing on the show was an amazing experience, and she was happy to put Ottawa Drag on the map.

“I'm so happy to be able to represent Canada and represent Ottawa,” Couture said.

Recently off a U.S. tour, Icesis Couture is back in Ottawa. Named the official Grand Marshall of the Capital Pride Parade, Couture will be hitting the TD main stage on Sunday to perform.
