CHEO and Ray Friel COVID-19 testing centres move to new locations

By Danielle Bain

Those looking for a PCR test might need to take notice of a pair of location changes involving two testing clinics in the city.

The COVID-19 CHEO Assessment Centre and Kids Come First Care Clinic at Brewer Park Arena relocated to CHEO's main campus at 401 Smyth Road in Ottawa on Thursday, March 24.

The site has the same hours of operation as it did in its previous spot, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The new location will also continue to distribute Do-It-Yourself test kits and provide in person consultations at the Kids Come First Care Clinic.

Although this clinic has moved, The Ottawa Hospital (TOH) will continue to operate the COVID-19 Assessment Centre for Adults at Brewer Park.

Another clinic switching locations is the Ray Friel COVID-19 Testing Centre.

It is currently located in the Ray Friel Recreation Complex but will operate out of the Orléans Health Hub beginning Friday, March 25.  You can access the centre through the West entrance at 2225 Mer-Bleue Road in Orléans.

The Orléans Health Hub will operate with the same hours the Ray Friel Testing Centre did, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

This new location will act as a drive-up testing centre, where most individuals will administer a COVID-19 swab themselves and hand over the completed test for lab processing.

An area is available for those without a vehicle or those who need extra care, to get tested as well.

To book an appointment at either of these clinics or at a clinic that is more convenient, residents can visit OttawaPublicHealth.ca/CovidTesting or call 613-288-5353.
