CHEZ 106.1’s Amy Volume launches annual Turkey Drop benefiting the Ottawa Mission

By Mike Vlasveld

CHEZ 106.1 Host Amy Volume is looking to raise $3,000 in order to buy turkeys for the Ottawa Mission this Thanksgiving.

“Six years ago I had this 'out there' idea to host a turkey drop at Thanksgiving. Ninety-four amazing souls showed up that first year and dropped turkeys off at the station and we handed them over to our friends at the Ottawa Mission,” she explains. “And it's been growing ever since.”

Mission CEO Peter Tilley tells CityNews Ottawa, that despite the many challenges, he's hopeful that the Mission will receive about 4,000 lbs. of turkey this year.

“A well cooked, wholesome meals goes beyond filling our stomachs — it has the power to fill our hearts,” says Volume. “Let's make sure the Ottawa Mission has enough to feed the most vulnerable in our community.”

The Ottawa Mission served nearly 5,700 meals to those in need last Thanksgiving

Amy Volume's Turkey Drop 2021 launches Monday, October 4, with the donation page closing Monday, October 11.
