A test of Richmond emergency alert system was conducted on Tuesday, however, there was a glitch in some of the text message alerts.

Do not reply to text messages that look like they may have been sent by the City of Ottawa.

That’s what the City is telling residents after it has become aware of a scam hitting up people’s phones.

According to the City, someone posing as the City of Ottawa is contacting individuals about compensation for the convoy protests.

The City says it will never communicate about financial information through text message.
