A staff member working at the city-run Garry J. Armstrong long-term care home has tested positive for COVID-19.

The City alerted members of council of the new positive case Friday evening, adding that staff are working with Ottawa Public Health (OPH) to ensure that appropriate testing is completed and necessary precautions are put in place.

Communications have been provided to staff, residents and family members as of Friday, November 19.

OPH says staff and visitors who do not pass screening processes are not permitted to enter the home, enhanced cleaning of commons areas and high touch surfaces are being implemented and staff are being encouraged to maintain physical distance between co-workers.
