City terminates employee after alleged abuse

By CityNews Ottawa

The City of Ottawa says an employee at the Peter D. Clark Long-Term Care Centre has been terminated following an incident of alleged physical abuse towards a resident.

According to a City memo, a member of the home's management team was contacted by a family member who reported the incident on March 28. The incident was later reported to the Ministry of Long-term Care and the Ottawa Police Service, while the employee in question was removed from the workplace.

Staff at the home continue to monitor and assess the impacted resident, while management is regularly communicating with the resident's family.

No names were released, and the Ministry of Long-term Care and Ottawa police officers are investigating the incident.
