A fibre cable cut in the Valley has knocked out phone and television service for many residents in several eastern Ontario communities.
Cogeco said in a tweet that a fibre cable was taken down along Highway 148 by a vehicle and its affecting the telecommunications company's service in Arnprior, Renfrew, Pembroke, Petawawa, Chalk River, Deep River, Hawkesbury, Beachburg and surrounding areas.
While we are working on a permanent fix we have also been working on a temporary solution, we have used a culvert under the road to bring our fibre across,” the company said on Twitter. “One lucky crew member got to walk the fibre across under the road.”
Cogeco did not provide an estimated time for restoration.
Our teams found our fibre optic cable down along Highway 148. It looks like it was an accident caused by a vehicle. We are working diligently to repair the fibre optic cable, but there is no estimated time of resolution at this time. Thank you very much for your patience, Tristan pic.twitter.com/qbVADw9qBk
