Confederation Line to temporarily close for maintenance on May 31

By Mike Vlasveld

O-Train Line 1 is again closing for a few days to allow for infrastructure and maintenance work.

The City of Ottawa says the trains will be replaced by R1 bus service from Sunday, May 31 to Wednesday, June 3, before reopening on Thursday, June 4.

Rideau Transit Group is expected to test updated software and do infrastructure and maintenance work as they continue to address issues that have impacted local train service.

The city is allowing them to complete this work while ridership is low due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Confederation Line had also closed over two weekends early in May to allow for work to be done.

R1 bus service is expected to operate frequently so there will be enough space for physical distancing.

Entrances to most Line 1 stations will be closed and customers will only have access to R1 bus stops. O-Train ambassadors will be outside Line 1 stations to direct customers to R1 bus stops.
