COVID-19 clinic opening at Ray Friel Recreation Complex on Monday

The Montfort Hospital is opening a COVID-19 care clinic on one of the ice rinks at the Ray Friel Recreation Complex in Orléans on Monday, to give better testing access for residents in Ottawa's east end.
According to a release from the hospital, the purpose of the clinic is to screen residents for the novel coronavirus and assess individuals with symptoms of respiratory illnesses, such as a coughs, fevers, and cold-like symptoms that cannot be managed at home.
It will be open from 12 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the first day, with regular hours of 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday after.
Adults and children above the age of six-months are eligible for assessment at the clinic, and service is expected to be available in both English and French.
As for all other COVID-19 testing centres in Ontario, appointments must be booked 24 to 48 hours ahead of time, through the hospital's website. Currently, the booking system is only available in English, but French services will be available in the coming days. Those without internet access can book appointments by calling 613-288-5353.
The clinic offers two services: Swab only or assessment by a doctor and a test.

According to the Montfort Hospital, the location for the new clinic was chosen after studying several sites in Orléans based on numerous criteria, including: the need for a safe environment; the size of the available space; the accessibility for people with reduced mobility; the proximity of public transit services; free parking; the extent of redevelopment work required; and rental costs.
A new door has been added to the Ray Friel Recreation Complex to allow those using the clinic to come and go without interacting those using the complex.
Residents can also be tested at the COVID-19 care clinics on Heron Road or Moodie Drive, the COVID-19 Assessment Centre, located in the Brewer Arena, and the COVID-19 DriveTest Centre, located at 330 Coventry Road.
