A critical care physician at the Ottawa Hospital believes that there will be more waves of the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, he believes circumstances around potential future waves may not be as bleak, and feels hospitals may not be as severely impacted as they were with previous waves of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We have to be up front with what the future looks like and we can plan for it,” said Dr. Kwadwo Kyeremanteng on The Sam Laprade Show on Wednesday, June 1. “In my opinion, the waves will look different based on the fact we are very well vaccinated.”
Dr. Kyeremanteng is much more optimistic than he was in the past when dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.
“If we can forecast what the future holds, we can be more proactive,” he added. “Vaccines are working.”
Dr. Kyeremanteng said it's time to look at ways to “live with COVID.”
“We have to be strategic and not look back,” he said.
Dr. Kyeremanteng said he has not heard any news on vaccines available for children under five.
“When the vaccine is available, it's something you don't want to rush and you want to get right,” he said.
