By Alex Black

Ottawa City Councillor Diane Deans is back to work following her treatment for ovarian cancer.

She described her diagnosis as a 'devastating blow,' but credits her family, friends and the community for their support to get her through the difficult time.

The councillor for Gloucester-Southgate Ward, who is also the chair of the Ottawa Police Services Board, returned to work Tuesday, September 8, and will be in attendance at Wednesday's city council meeting.

Deans tweeted that she is excited to be back to work.
