Easter long weekend open and closed

A weekend full of feasts and sweet treats is upon us. 

The Easter long weekend means there will be some closures and schedule changes around the nation's capital.

All LCBO and The Beer Store locations are closed for Good Friday on April 15 and Easter Sunday on April 17, while The Beer Store locations will operate regular hours on Easter Monday on April 18. Select LCBO locations are open on Easter Monday. 

Most grocery stores and retail outlets are closed on Good Friday and Easter Sunday, but are open Easter Monday.

Banks will be closed on Good Friday and reopen Easter Monday.

Client Service Centres:

  • Ottawa City Hall and all seven Client Service Centres, including the Government Service Centres located at 110 Laurier Ave. west and 580 Terry Fox Dr., will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday. Business will resume as usual on Tuesday.
  • The city's Provincial Offences Court, located at 100 Constellation Cres., will also be closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday. Business will resume as usual on Tuesday.
  • The city's 311 Contact Centre will be open for urgent matters requiring the city's immediate attention.

Green bin, recycling and garbage collection:

  • There will be no curbside green bin, recycling or garbage collection on Good Friday or Easter Monday. The collection of green bin, garbage and recycling materials will be delayed by one day for the week.
  • There will be no multi-residential recycling container collection. Recycling container collection will also be delayed by one day for the week. However, multi-residential garbage container collection is not delayed and will take place on its regular scheduled day.
  • The Trail Waste Facility is closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday.

Transit:

OC Transpo:

  • OC Transpo bus service will operate on a Sunday schedule on Friday and on a reduced weekday schedule on Monday.
  • O-Train Line 1 will operate on a Sunday schedule on Friday and a regular weekday schedule on Monday.
  • On Friday, the whole family can ride all day for $11.00 on a single DayPass. Purchase your Family DayPass at any ticket machine or from your bus operator. A family can be made up of as many as six people, with a maximum of two aged 13 or older.
  • New this year: children aged seven and under ride for no charge every day!
  • OC Transpo Customer Service (613-560-5000) will be open on Friday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., and on Monday 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • OC Transpo's Rideau Centre Customer Service Centre will be closed on Friday and Sunday, but will be open on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Monday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • All other OC Transpo Customer Service Centres are currently closed.
  • Heartwood House (OC Transpo Lost and Found) will be closed on Friday and Monday.

Para Transpo:

  • Para Transpo will operate on a holiday service on Friday, April 15, Sunday, April 17 and Monday, April 18.
  • Regular bookings on Friday, April 15 and Monday, April 18 are automatically cancelled.
  • Regular bookings on Sunday, April 17 are not automatically cancelled, and customers are reminded to suspend regular bookings if they do not need their trip.
  • Customers can book trips for these dates one week prior by calling 613-560-5000 or using the online web form.
  • The reservations line will remain open from 7 am to 5 pm, while the trip cancellation line will be open from 6 am to 12:30 am.
  • The Taxi Coupon line will remain open.

Recreation and cultural services:

  • Many pools, fitness centres and some arenas will be open Easter Monday for public swimming, skating and fitness classes with modified schedules.
  • Many registered programs at swimming pools, community centres and arenas are cancelled on Easter Monday, however, clients should check with their facility to confirm, as some exceptions will apply.
  • Shenkman Arts Centre is closed on Friday and Monday, with reduced hours on Saturday and Sunday.
  • Meridian Theatres at Centrepointe is closed from Friday to Monday.
  • The City of Ottawa Archives and Gallery 112 will be closed from Friday to Monday.

Municipal child care services: 

  • City-operated Child Care Centres will also be closed on Easter Monday and all branches, departments and services of the Ottawa Public Library will be closed Easter Monday.

Ottawa Public Health:

  • Visit the OPH COVID-19 Vaccine page for vaccination clinic hours and availability.
  • Visit the OPH COVID-19 Testing page for testing centre and care clinic hours and availability.
  • The Ottawa Public Health COVID-19 Vaccine Booking Line will be closed on Friday, April 15. It will be open on Monday, April 18 from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
  • The Sexual Health Clinic and satellite clinics will be closed.
  • The Site program office and supervised consumption services at 179 Clarence Street will be closed. The Site mobile van will operate from 5 pm to 11:30 pm.
  • The Ottawa Public Health Information Centre and COVID-19 Information Line will be closed.
  • Dental clinics will be closed.
  • The Baby Help Line will be returning calls.

Library Services:

  • All Ottawa Public Library branches will be closed on Friday, Sunday and Monday. Virtual services, loans and programs can be accessed on the Ottawa Public Library website.

Community and Social Services:

  • The Tom Brown respite centre at 141 Bayview Station Road that is currently operating as a 24/7 Physical Distancing Centre with limited Respite Services will be open.
  • The Bernard Grandmaître respite centre at 309 McArthur Avenue will be closed on Friday and will reopen on Monday.
