Fire crews douse blaze on roof of restaurant on Merivale Road

Ottawa fire crews were able to extinguish a fire on the roof of a restaurant in Nepean.

The Ottawa Fire Service (OFS) was called to Montana's restaurant on Merivale Road, north of Viewmount Drive at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday for reports of flames on the roof.

The caller was informing first responders from inside the restaurant.

They arrived on scene quickly and soon after closed Merivale Road in both directions.

Live wires on the roof were a challenge, and they waited for Hydro to shut off the power.

The restaurant was evacuated, and there are no reported injuries.

The fire was under control at 8:17 p.m.

Merivale Road has since reopened.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
