Two hospitals in the Ottawa Valley region are modifying their pandemic-long health mandates.
In separate releases, the Almonte General Hospital (AGH) and the Carleton Place and District Memorial Hospital (CPDMH) have announced they're adjusting screening measures for both families and patients. The hospitals said these adjustments come as COVID-19 cases continue to decline in the communities.
Staff members will no longer be asked for proof of vaccination or be required to do COVID-19 screenings, but everyone is still required to wear a mask.
Both hospitals are also asking visitors and patients to continue self-screening for symptoms by reviewing the posted signs at the front doors. Also, visitors still have to be fully vaccinated to enter and are advised to bring their proof of vaccination with them as they may be asked to show it.
As always, residents are urged to stay home if unwell, unless it's a medical emergency.
As for the Ottawa region, COVID-related hospitalizations are steadily on the rise. In recent weeks, hospitalizations have more than doubled due to active cases of the virus at the Ottawa Hospital (TOH), Queensway Carleton Hospital (QCH), Montfort Hospital and the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO).
Ottawa Public Health (OPH) has suggested residents continue taking precautions, as COVID-19 infections continue to spike.
