A police pursuit in La Pêche has ended with a man being arrested after a car slammed into the wall of a business, north of Wakefield.

MRC des Collines police accuse the driver of the vehicle of trying to outrun the police, after being caught speeding on Highway 105.

The pursuit began around 1:20 p.m., Tuesday, January 26, and ended when the vehicle crashed into the wall of a business in the village of Alcove. Police say the driver bailed out of the vehicle and began running into a wooded area.

Officers then followed footprints through the snow to find their suspect hiding behind a tree.

A 29-year-old man from Gracefield, Quebec, was arrested and charged with flight, dangerous driving and obstruction. He also faces fines for hit-and-run, speeding, and for driving with a suspended license.

Police did not release the man's name, but say he was also wanted for an outstanding arrest warrant.

The man was held in custody to make a court appearance.
