Metcalfe Fair returns in full-form as it celebrates 166 years

By CityNews Staff

The fair that's older than the country itself is returning this Thursday (Sept. 29) with an entertainment-packed schedule.

The Metcalfe Fair is celebrating 166 years and Cheryl Cooper, second vice president of the fair, told The Sam Laprade Show that there's something for everybody at the event.

“This is a traditional agricultural folk fall fair,” she said. “So we've got everything from displays, giant pumpkins, home crafts…livestock shows, horse shows, and then, of course, demolition derby night is Thursday.”

Cooper said that the past two years were modified fairs due to the pandemic, but the community and sponsors still showed up and offered their support.

The fair runs from Thursday, Sept. 29 to Sunday, Oct. 2. More information about admission and events can be found on their website
